Coach trips to Localtel HQ. From: Peter Date: 07 Jul 1999 Time: 16:18:14 Comments Hi Why have I only just discovered this message board? I have obviously been wandering the net with my eyes closed. Anyway, onto my main subject: When Localtel & Tempo issued the press releases about the "Free Dial-up access to the Internet campaign" prior to April 29th, a number of internet users in my city decided to put on a coach for the trip to our nearest Tempo store (approx. 100 miles away) in order to get our free CDs. Due to our dissatisfaction with the service, we have now arranged another coach (which has now been filled to capacity) to take us to the Localtel head office on Friday 23rd July 1999. A round trip consisting of over 450 miles. The intention is to "have it out" with the Managing Director(s), simply because he/she/they refuse to respond to our mail or return our phone calls. Ultimately, we are more than unhappy with the service, want to go back to BT, but are not prepared to pay the rest of the years rental when the service provided so far has been so bad (let's face it - atrocious is an understatement). You may wish to note at this stage, that if you signed up to Localtel through the Internet CD (as long as it was accompanied by the Tempo Buyers Guide) then the Localtel standard Contract is not a legally binding document. Actually, it is more accurate to say that it is about 80% flawed. Further to this, all of us who hired the coach received our contracts weeks after we joined the service. Trading Standards say that this makes the contract completely void. You may wish to consult your own Trading Standards Dept. if your contract arrived after the agreement was signed too. I think it would marvellous if people in different cities took a leaf out of our book and also organised mass visits to Localtel (but on different days). If you are interesting in putting on a coach (at least one person in each city must be prepared to organise it), I have set up a special hotmail account to which you can send details of your name, email address and city (or the nearest city you can get to too board a coach). When 15 people from each city write, I will forward their details too a self-nominated organiser so he can get in touch with them. If lots of people write from one particular city but nobody nominates themself as an organiser, then I will email you all as well as post a message in this forum to let you all know. This way, somebody can reconsider upon whether to nominate themself as the organiser. Maybe you don't think the coach trips to Localtel are a good idea? I don't know. I just know that me, my friends and the strangers who organised the trip to get our CDs are unhappy enough to organise another coach to the Localtel HQ itself. I am merely assuming that there must be other people interested in doing exactly the same thing. The email address is: localtel_daytrip@hotmail.com Chin up and all that! Peter.
